Walking Tip

Mind Tip Walk your way to a better mood. A brisk daily jaunt can help alleviate stress, anxiety and depression.

Battling a case of the blahs? If you’re feeling down in the dumps or saddled with stress, find solace in a 30-minute walk. A brisk jaunt most days of the week can help bust a bad mood, whether it’s a result of stress, anxiety or depression. Is there anything a bout of physical activity can’t fix? Some research suggests that intense workouts can even help anxiety-prone people to manage their panic attacks. Oh, and if it’s PMS that’s making you cranky, short walks can help reduce chocolate cravings too. No matter what the reason for your less-than-perky disposition, lacing up your sneakers and hitting the pavement for half an hour isn’t going to hurt — and it just might help.
