My mom has made something like this forever. This is just a different variation of it...
Go check out The Country Cook Blog HERE for this and other great recipes!
Ingredients:
2 (0.87 oz.) packets dry chicken gravy mix
1 (10.75 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
2 cups water
1 lb. boneless, skinless chicken breasts
garlic powder, Onion Powder & black pepper, to taste
1/2 cup sour cream (optional) I used 4 oz of Cream Cheese because it's what we had on hand
rice, mashed potatoes or noodles to serve over
Directions:
Season chicken breasts (both sides)with garlic powder, black pepper. I do this over night if time permits. If you choose to use salt don't use a bunch because the soup and gravy also contain salt.
In your slow cooker, whisk together the gravy packets, cream of chicken soup, and water until smooth.
Add the seasoned chicken breasts. Be sure to get them covered in gravy.
Cover and cook on low for about 6-8 hours.
Once cooked, Shred chicken with a fork in the crock pot. Than add the Cream Cheese or Sour Cream if you decided to use it- stir until melted. Serve over Rice, Pasta or Potatoes.
**When we make other variations of this I use whatever Cream Of soup we have on hand. Usually we use 2 cans of Cream f Soup & and no Gravy powder and no water. We have also used one can of Cream of & a can of gravy. I have added cheese to the mix, veggies, or a cream- like above- cream cheese/ sour cream. Super easy and simple.
