FO Wednesday: Car Stuffs

My car was in need of some yarny goodness =)
So I made Coasters for the cup holders, inserts for the door handles and
there is another random spot for change or something.

I used this pattern for the coasters.
I improvised the rest.

FO Tuesday: Flower Power Trivet

This project was different from all others I have made!
I found the project on Ravelry

Basically you make 2 pieces and crochet them together...

...and it sure was a pain!!

But my friend Corrine gave me a suggestion that I am totally using on the next one!
If there is a next one hahaha...
The double thickness makes it great for a trivet or even a pot holder.
It now resides at Mom's house. =)

Details:
Started 7/10/13
Finished 7/12/13
G hook
Lily Sugar n'Cream yarn
Finished piece measures about 9 inches in diameter

Finished Object Week: Hand Sanitizer Cozy

5 days of FO's (Finished Objects) at your service! All made with cotton yarn.
I wanted to use up some of my cotton stash!

This was probably one of the quickest projects I have ever completed!

Using an H hook and Lily Sugar n'Cream yarn
I made this in about 20 minutes on 7/12/13.

I even found a matching button in my Grandmother's button stash.

It now hangs on my work bag! =)

ETA: 12/8/13- Has been added to the Project page on Ravelry as a featured photo!!

Foodie Friday: Pesto, recipe included

We had a ton of basil so I made some PESTO 7/13/13
I looked at the recipe from Simply Recipes, then did my own thing...

Here is my basil getting all cleaned up!

I used a combo of regular EVOO and this great stuff from the people at
the Olive Tap- Garlic Olive Oil

My mini food processor did great!

Fresh Basil Pesto Recipe

Every year we plant basil and every year the plants do so well that we can’t use it up fast enough. What to do? Basil pesto, of course! Here is a simple recipe. Note that pesto is always made to taste, based on the ingredients at hand. So adjust the ingredients to your taste. Most pesto recipes call for Parmesan cheese, we often use Romano which has a stronger flavor. Most basil pesto recipes call for pine nuts but you can easily substitute walnuts.
If you want to freeze the pesto you make, omit the cheese (it doesn’t freeze well). Line an ice cube tray with plastic wrap, and fill each pocket with the pesto. Freeze and then remove from the ice tray and store in a freezer bag. When you want to use, defrost and add in grated Parmesan or Romano.
  • Prep time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed  (****I didn't measure)
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan-Reggiano or Romano cheese (****didn't measure)
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil (****didn't measure)
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts or walnuts (***didn't have any)
  • 3 medium sized garlic cloves, minced (I probably used more than this...)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

METHOD

1 Combine the basil in with the pine nuts, pulse a few times in a food processor. (If you are using walnuts instead of pine nuts and they are not already chopped, pulse them a few times first, before adding the basil.) Add the garlic, pulse a few times more.
2 Slowly add the olive oil in a constant stream while the food processor is on. Stop to scrape down the sides of the food processor with a rubber spatula. Add the grated cheese and pulse again until blended. Add a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Serve with pasta, or over baked potatoes, or spread over toasted baguette slices.
Yield: Makes 1 cup.

Q's Finished Blanket!

Q's blanket is finally complete!!!
I thought I had other posts about this mystical blanket but I was only able to locate one:

It was "the longest summer ever" for 2 years- at least! LOL

Here he is binding off.

Here are the pieces. I had already stitched together the first two.

Here it is complete!
Stitched together, with a single crochet border-two strands of yarn held together.

Finally!!! =)

I asked him what was next....he has yet to answer... ;)

WIP Wednesday: Red and White Shawl

I am using a pattern I got from Etsy Called the

It was hard to get started, well not hard I was just getting confused.
So I ripped it back and started again and it worked out better.
I didn't use the written pattern-just the chart.

Inspired by My Wedding =) AWWWWE

And I STILL managed to mess it up!
I have been adding an extra stitch in every row....

I was not ripping it all back again- I think it will turn out ok...

I hope....

To be continued.....
